The New Standards Are Here
The State of California is part of the Common Core State Standards Initiative. Virtually all of the USA will be teaching using the same common set of standards. Skyline Elementary staff is prepared for the instructional shift in 2014-2015. Hard copies of these standards are available for viewing in the office.
Our Reading Incentive Program
An Exposure Notice was sent home to inform the Skyline families that a classroom in second grade had students with hand, foot and mouth disease. The classroom and school common areas were disinfected to prevent spreading and no other cases have been found to date. The signs and symptoms start with fever, sore throat and overall feeling of being unwell. Approximately two days following, rashes can develop on the palms of the hands and soles of feet. Sores may occur in the mouth. There is no medical treatment needed other than rest, rinsing with a numbing mouthwash and pain medication if needed. See below for the link to the CDC website for more information.
